trouble w/ my polar HRm

I just got this oct this year....the past few times I've tried to use it, it registers my HR in the 280s & I know that's not correct. Do I need to contact polar? I ordered it from Amazon so I'm not sure they'll be much help??
I loved it until I had this trouble!!

I had the same trouble with my polar last month and i just express posted it off with the form off the website and i had it back fixed and all within a week

have you washed the strap lately? mine was doing that, but then i washed the strap and it was okay afterward. also, maybe the battery is getting low?
