what kind of flower is my avatar?

Does anyone know the name of this flower? It was growing in my fire pit. Blossom was about the size of a quarter. Creamy petals with a deep purple center. It blossomed in the late summer or early fall.

I had to google when teagen2002 said hibiscus because I've never seen one like that before.

I missed the "blossom size of a quarter" part. Rose of Sharons are about the size of a baseball, and hibiscus can be the size of dinner plates.

I am not a dichotomous key, but my best guess would be Hibiscus trionum.
