How long without exercise is too long?

I'm taking the family camping over the Christmas break (Southern Hemisphere - beauty weather here :D), but I'm going to be away from a gym for 10 days. My main focus is muscle gain and becoming leaner... but I'm a little concerned that 10 days away from civilisation are going to take me two steps backwards. I cycle, but won't be taking my bike. I'm considering doing C25K while I'm away, but I'm worried it won't be enough.

Does anyone have suggestions on what to do for exercise while I'm away?

I think camping is active enough by itself that you'll be OK. But, if you're concerned about it. Nothing wrong with push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups. You could do some trail running since I assume you'll be near trails.

I've never gained weight on a camping trip...even if I'm eating a lot.

Just relax and enjoy your trip. When you come back, it will take you about a week to get back in the groove. 10 days is nothing in the grand scheme of things.
  • Thank you both! It's good to get some reassurance. :D

    Yes, just enjoy your break.

Even with sufficient rest days and cycling which body parts you work and when, the body still needs the odd period of total rest every so often. Apart from enjoying yourself, you may actually find your lifts/times/whatever are a little better when you get back. So enjoy!
