For anyone interested the National health and Medical Research Council has just released a draft of new Australian dietary guidelines for public comment: http://www.eatforhealth.gov.au/

I have sent these to my home email address to look at - at a first glance the advice seems pretty similar to all the other Australian dietary advice I have heard, don't seem to be any big changes. Maybe there are and I just haven't read enough of the document.0

No major shifts, perhaps: they've mostly just strengthened the recommendations on eating lots of fruit and veg (and less starch), and tweaked guidelines on meat.0
