Expire date on whey protein powder

I have 2 big cans of Dynamize whey protein power. None of them have an expired date on the can.
Does that mean they are supposed to be last forever?

    My protein supplement doesn't have an expiration date printed on the container either, but occasionally I get one with a price tag type sticker on the bottom that has what I assume is a date that is usually about 2 years ahead. For example, I had one with a sticker with 9-13 on it a few months ago. I just assume that it is the use by date by month and year.
