So my boyfriend, a MFP'er as well, and I are getting sick. We are both swamped with work and desperately want to avoid sick days, and we don't want the flu to hinder our diets either.

We need flu busters pronto, and good foods to eat when you are on the flu that wont bust our diets.

Already planning a stop for oranges, but need more than that!

    I recommend Emergen-C.

In terms of food, I don't know of anything that will actually stave off a virus once you've had symptoms. Even vitamin C doesn't actually prevent you from getting sick.

Get some extra sleep, Emergen-C, and maybe some zinc. Good luck!

Vitamin C, garlic & onions. Tea with a whole lemon in it preferably, or a dose of 1000mg vitamin C. I already mentioned the Neti pot. I just had the flu and got better after only 2 days! I didn't even need the antibiotics my doctor prescribed. If you act now you can avoid all of that nasal congestion and pain. Get rest if you can. My doctor once also told me Gatorade (or electrolyte enhanced water) is good for fighting the flu because it has a lot of Electrolytes (salt) which are also antibacterial.

chicken noodle soup really does help, because there's fluids from the broth, and your stomach can take it, and it's not heavy. feel better!

oh and my mom swears by an entire lemon squeezed into hot water, i've tried it and that also helps to make you feel better.

AND...even though you want to avoid sick days, if you feel tired take the day, and rest up! and hopefully won't have to miss the next!

manuka honey. I usually like to make up some warm water/lemon juice/honey and ginger drinks.
