Exercise Plan Help

Hi all. I will be starting a membership in a few days at a small gym and could use some help with a plan. I'm really excited about this, but am completely lost. The gym has all the regular equipment (cardio and weight) as well as a pool. I am a seriously out of shape (although I have been trying to walk about 1-3 miles most days and also recently started using an exercise bike at home), mid-40s female, 5'6", and weigh about 230. I have been on MFP for about 2 months or so and have lost about 15 pounds. I got the "eating healthier" thing working pretty good, but I could really use some help with how best to exercise and utilize all the equipment available to me. Should I do both cardio and weight on the same day, switch every other day? What about reps/sets? Guess you could say I'm a gym virgin, and could use any help and advice available, Thank you so much.

Switch off cardio and weights. You should only be lifting 2-3 times a week. Check out the New Rules of Lifting for Women book - they have a nice, short full body lifting workout that has pictures and descriptions of all the exercises.
