Finals help!

So it's finals week and this usually means long sedentary study sessions, greasy food, and little sleep.
I am trying to avoid this. Unhealthy food is easy to avoid, and I have managed to move around some, but I tend to be eating just more quantities, any ideas? Should I just get back on track after finals?

I try and study in 15 or 30 minute chunks, then get up and walk around or do a few bodyrock.tv exercises then get back to it and another few 15 to 30 minute chunks.

it is good to space out studying (we shouldn't be cramming anyway) and while i still eat a ton the little workouts seem to work for me :)
  • I'm just marathoning it xD

Try air popped popcorn. Can eat a ton of it

I just get keep myself away from food and only allow myself to eat when I am actually hungry at meal/snack times rather than grazing.

i DON'T study at home (most the time) because i know i will distract myself with my bed, tv and food.
and take the necessary meals to eat while i'm out :)

I actually have a popper and kernels, however I don't have a big enough bowl to hold the amount I must make with it. This is my dilemma XDD

Stick it out, schools important! Sit down, chew gum, try air popped popcorn or baby carrots. Once finals are done with worry about your activity level. Just try to keep your calorie intake in check! I can not stress enough ---- BABY CARROTS, CELERY ect! =)

Same problem here. If I stop eating, I fall asleep! Wound up making a couple extra trips to the vending machine. :( I packed snacks for what I thought was two days and ate them in one.

I think it's just one of those things that sucks, but we can be glad it's only for a week or so. Maybe try leaving your money/snacks at home? There's nothing really I can do when I can't get at snacks.

I am so glad that I was in writing classes this semester and my work is DONE already as final week descends!

That said, I don't have any great tips. My husband cooks often at our house, and finals/midterms are typically completely on his plate. My house becomes a Sh!Thole, my kids are tired of coloring and TV, and I'm eating crap food during the day.

I'm finding that studying at home with NO CRAP FOOD in the house is my best solution. I just simply don't buy it. I have some Fit and Active pockets from Aldi that microwave for a minute and are like 220 calories, and that's cram time lunch. Maybe a slice of toast for breakfast. But I pretty much subside on Monster Absolutely Zero during this craptastic time.

I wish you much luck! I can relate oh-so-well to your plight. You might be kind of naughty this week, and that's okay. Life happens, and you just get back on board next week. (Plus, if you are like me at all, you might find that you drop more weight than you expect in the two weeks after!)

This is what helps me (No finals yet where I live, but I have been studying/cramming for around 10 hours per day due to my obsessive personality xD):
    -hard candies
-Wrigleys Extra Desert Delights Gum (these are SO amazing, that I had my *awesome* mom send me like 30 packs across the world XD)
-low calorie hot chocolate and teas
-I use my rice cooker (or crock pot) and fill it with some water...then I add a bunch of mushrooms and fish (shell fish such as scallops and fillets of cat fish etc)...It takes around 25 minutes and its all cooked. Then I eat it with udon noodles and udon broth...You can place this over rice or just eat it playing though~~~or with ramen/soba etc...I like this because once you make the batch up, you can just grab it as you please :D
-fruit (I am taking a break from dieting at the moment, but was on the orange diet and fruit really helps)
-peel a carrot or cucumber and just munch on it

    Hope this helps~

I use the treadmill as a procrastination tool, but it doesn't help with the stress eating! :(

This site keeps distracting me too!! I haven't studied at all and I need to be cramming now. Huge final tomorrow!!

About the treadmill, you can put your notebook or book on it or an elliptical and study while working out. It's a little hard to read though, but it makes the time go by faster while working out and you don't have to stop studying. Plus, you get your workout in.=)
  • I've been munching on apples and drinking light hot chocolate. Eventually I get so full I physically cannot eat anymore  I basically try to avoid nonfilling foods like candy and cookies, because during crunch time I can eat an entire box (or three) just to keep myself awake.

Me too! Try to stick to veggies and fruit and just get through it! I take my notes with me on the treadmill and walk slower than usual but any exercise is beneficial. I also take little breaks between studies and do a few yoga poses to refocus...really helps me destress! Good luck on your finals!
