I am 5'7 and 120 lbs, so pretty thin. I still have a small layer of fat around my middle, but I don't want to lose weight anywhere else so I am currently eating maintenance.

Will the shred still be affective doing this? Especially since I am already thin?

I'm not an expert at all , but I think so. It seems to me to be more of a toning & muscle building work out than a weight loss one.
  • Last time I did it was significantly heavier, and lost around 20 inches all together though :O

The shred will help you strengthen those tummy muscles. You won't drop massive scale weight on it, it tends to burn an average of anywhere from 150-275 calories depending on the level and other variables for the individual person. But it will definitely help you tighten up the muscles in that area, there are some intense ab workouts especially in the higher levels.

I am doing level 2 for 15 days and then level 3 for an additional 15 (I am no beginner, level one is entirely too easy for me.) and Jesus Christ Jillian Michaels LOVES her planks, doesn't she?! haha

I've done the shred once before, but I never got to level 3... I'm a little afraid hah

Are you planning on eating back the exercise calories to net at maintenance or just eat maintenance and create a small deficit while toning?

Depends on my mood that day. I'll eat the exercise calories back some days, some days I won't.

Don't be afraid. There's more jumping and more planky-goodness, but you'll do fine. If I can do it (mostly.....and mostly following our 'beginner' girl Anita), probably almost anybody can. LOL

Even if you don't drop a lot of weight, you should drop inches. Take your measurements before and after. Just be conservative about eating those exercise cals unless you're using a HRM and you'll be fine (just in case of overestimation).
