Birth control increased appetite HELP!

I recently switched from a birth control shot, depoprovera, to a pill, aviane, and a couple things have been happening that I do not take kindly to.

1. I have been very bloated since I started the pill
2. I feel like my appetite has increased since starting it.

I have only been on it for a little over a week, so will these two side affects go away after time? I gained weight from Depo definitely, and the reason I switched to Aviane was so that I could make sure it didn't happen again...

First of all, yay for being off depo!!!! That stuff suuuuuucks.

Next, yes, when I transitioned that stuff got better over time.

Lastly, if you're feeling super hungry, steam some veggies or eat fresh veggies and fruit. That should help on all fronts. :)

When I was on the pill I was on sprintec its a lose dose hormone which is nice it didn't make me that hungry

I been off the pill now for almost a year, doc gave us the green light to start a family after I lost over 150lbs (gained some back due to stress of buying/selling houses last year)

Are you trying to prevent getting preggers or to control your periods?

sprintec is good for both those things =)

my doc says to stay away from everything with the word "TRI" in it though

I was on the pill for 10 years and didnt have any problems, Im sure it will settle in a few weeks. I would suggest drinking lots of water to help with bloating and it will fill you up and if I was you I wouldnt buy any unhealthly snacks etc so I wasnt tempted to eat them.

All bodies take time to adjust so I would just stick with it. x

Seriously.. It's been a week! It takes more time then that for our bodies get used to something.. Give it a month, and then see how you feel.

I've been on B/C(Loestrin 24 FE) for about 3 years now, and I've had no problems. I've lost weight just fine, and any bloat that I had went away once my body got used to it.

The rudeness wasn't necessary, a week is a lot of time to have a belly so hard you could knock a hole in the wall, and to want to eat everything under the sun.
I was just asking if it was going to go away.

Aviane is also a very low dose pill. I'm taking it to prevent pregnancy I guess, but I'm being forced to by my parents.
  • I refuse to take any type of hormonal BC now. I was on the shot for a year then pills the the shot again. When I first started the shot I gained so much weight. I'm not having trouble shedding the weight :( Not to mention the hormones in both the shot and the pill made me extremely emotional... like I was bi-polar or something (i have a bi-polar aunt so i know what this is like). I originally took BC to fix my PD but i would rather have a weird pd than be CRAZY all the time lol
On that note, I'd say give it a month or two and after that if nothing has changed talk to your parents and doc to see if theres something different you can try. BC is sometimes a necessary evil :( Good luck!

This! I cannot take birth control because it pushes my emotional lows to devastating ends and increases my anxiety tenfold, in addition to having a burning empty pit of a stomach. It made me quite literally crazy. Not to mention the weight gain. If you feel crappy, stop it immediately. It's not alright for your parents to force you to take something that carries risks to your health.
