Hi everyone,
I am new here and would like to lose my 30kg (65lbs) by July 2012
Doable?
I'm 23, I work full time and am getting engaged (I found out by accident) in July-ish 2012
I am starting slow, I am bad at running, I have flat feet and poor ankles, and these days my knees hurt, and would like to tone and strengthen so I don't end up 'skinny fat'
I get pretty bloated on carbs- white bread, rice and also sugary/salty foods. I once lost 5kg (11lbs) in a month from cutting out high sugar foods.
i'm a grazer/snacker. Ireact badly to 3pm every day. This is the time I get light headed and need a fix so lateley i've had 100cal soup at the ready or a special k bar or apple
MFP gave me a BMR of 2085 (including my activity level-desk job)
with a deficit of 500cals a day that brings me to 1585calories per day to be consumed
easing into exercise 3 days a week for 30 minutes a day and upping it per week gradually so I don't hurt myself, get bored or get used to an exercise.
My stats are
CW: 95kg (209lbs)
GW: 65kg (143lbs)
HW: 95kg
LW:60kg (132lbs)
I've set myself a mini goal of 5kg by January 20th. Please feel free to let me know if this seems outrageous
I have purchased Jillian Michaels 30 day shred- not sure if a 'beginner' exerciser can start doing this every second day and work up to every day for phase 1 -please let me know
I have big bouts of self sabotage telling myself i've failed by eating some chocolate or by seeing a recent photo.
Any advice is wanted and very much needed!
Thanks in advance and looking forward to meeting you!

Hello and welcome aboard. I am no fitness expert, but I say if it starts to hurt, then stop. Take it slow and stay focused on the long term goal. The truth is, you are going to fall down. When that happens, get up, dust yourself off, and keep moving forward. There is alot of good advice here, so be sure to look and read what others are doing. Best of luck on your journey.0

Hi and welcome!
You have a very ambitious goal. :-) it is doable but you would have to cut out more calories and up your activity to 5 workout days a week. To drop 2lbs per week you need a 7000 calorie weekly deficit. The problem is that it can really affect you negatively. It is generally recommended to lose 1 pound per week unless it is water weight.
I would probably up your water intake by several glasses and greatly reduce your sodium intake. I would not do more than a 700 calories a day deficit and workout regularly. Once you start dropping weight your knees should feel better when you workout granted they are not hurting from a prior injury.
No matter what though be patient and safe! AND have fun!

I drink 1.5litres of water a day.
and my sodium has been under 2000mg for a bad day.
I'm thinking my goal is TOO ambitious. but as I mentioned, my 3 days a week exercise will be upped to longer and/or more days as I get used to the exercise.0 -

Hi, 1.5 litres is not enough, lol. 3 litres is closer to what you need to drink. Your sodium looks good though.0

Don't overthink this..... just get started by eating the cals MFP has recommended and start exercising at your own pace. Within a few weeks you will get a feel for how it is working and if you stick to it, you will see results.
I started at a pretty similar weight (92kg) and by August had lost 20kg (about 43 pounds). My original goal was about 5kg lower, but I'm pretty happy at this weight - you might find tht the numbers change as you get closer to your goal. I think my point in saying this is - go for it, make some positive changes and you will see results. Don't get too hung up on numbers or dates and you'll do fine.
And congratulations on your accidental engagement next year..... I think!0
