lean muscle gain...or loss

I have been reading alot about weightloss lately...and it seems to all say that I am losing alot of muscle. I don't lift weights, but do planks, pushups, (ripped in 30 like exercise) Do I need to do more than this to tone and not lose muscle?
I try to do some bodyrocktv type workouts as well as a ton of cardio. I just want to make sure I am healthy and not just getting skinny. I have about 12 more pounds to lose, and it is definately coming off more slowly now, but I am okay with that, I want to be fit too. Any suggestions?

I do have gym membership, but I use it for cardio classes, and don't have time to add the weights in. I can do more exercise at home, just don't have any daycare time left at the gym to do more.

so is using my own body weight going to build muscle, or just maintain it?

Lifting heavy is going to maintain more muscle mass than doing body weight exercises.

A high protein diet is also key to retaining lean mass.

Don't forget your proteins. MFP proteins ratio is pretty low, don't be afraid to eat 100g prot per day!

i never get my protein the way mfp has it!!! I need more? I have it set at 40 carbs, 30 protein, 30 fat...does this seem right?

Would pump classes be enough weight/strength training to gain muscle? Or circuit class at gym? I really need a trainer, but the gym I go to is extremely expensive, and stretches my budget as it is. I have no fitness experience, and feel so stupid trying new things (pump and circuit). But will do it if it helps. I also have 5 lb and 10 lb dumbbells at home, and can do some with them, but is it enough to gain mass? I am clueless!
