C25K Days a Week

The program assumes you work out 3 days a week. When I was working with a trainer she convinced me that I can work out 5 days a week. Now, when I started C25K it killed me and the idea of doing it 2 days in a row was not going to happen. Long story short, I hurt myself took some time off and did some other running to get back to where I was. Yesterday I did Week 3 Day 2, and I was able to keep going after the alloted time to make a 5K in 37 minutes. Now today I was interested in working to the next day. When you did C25K did you do it 3 days a week with their expected rest days?

I did 3 "runs": a week, with two days in between weeks. I still don't run more than 3 days a week.

I loved the C25k - I did it Mon/Wed/Fri and it was awesome...I need to do it again!!! I wouldn't have done it daily though, I needed the rest between the runs.

I ran C25K (and am now running Bridge to 10K) every other day, so some weeks it works out to 4 days a week, some 3. It's good to give your body time to recover after a run, especially when you're first getting started as a runner. On non-running days, I do cross-training, so that might include anything like elliptical, walking, pilates, strength training, or circuit training. I find that system works best for me, and I know a lot of other people on here and elsewhere who do a similar program and have good results.

Beginning runners, especially, need rest between run days. I did not experience injuries with C25K until, feeling on top of the world, decided to run two days in a row.

Rest your legs and try something else. There's a world of exercise options out there.

Also, there is a C25K support group here. Check it out: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/30-couch-to-5k-running-program-c25k :drinker:

I am in Week 4. I do the 'runs' on M/W/F and then my regular boxing/kickboxing classes (4-5/wk) too.

I started running (and still target to run) 3 days a week ... it's always good to cross-train or let your body rest ... granted, there are days I just feel like running darnit ... so I do ... since my last baby (our 4th) I've been out of it for a while (finding time is hard) but am eager to do a race a month starting again in 2012 ... already signed up for my Warrior Dash :) ...

As it is just a guideline, I actually preferred resting 2 days between each session. It allowed my body to heal up, and gave me more endurance in the long run. (Set to graduate in two weeks!)

Congrats on your pending graduation! :) ... with a family of 6 (including a wee baby!) exercise is important, but I don't go to the gym ... running is the first thing that I found that works for me ... I walk out the door, run, and come home ... no drive time, other delays, etc. .... maximizes my family time while still actually exercising ...
