Hi Guys,
Do any of you adjust your diet if you are ill?
I've got some sort of flu type thing and can't really consider excersising beyond walking or cleaning right now as my chest is in bitts and cardio seems to keep setting my asthma off badly which is not being relieved by inhalers because of this dose.
The thing is.....I always stick to my 1200 a day and eat back excersise cals and never feel hungry, but the past few days I'm exhusted, feel like crap and im craving food, any food, mainly carbs non stop.
So do you "feed a cold" or do you stick to your 1200 when ill despite feeling hungry?
Thanks
Cleo

If I'm so sick that I stay home from work, etc. then I just eat what I can and focus on getting better. If I'm still functional, I just eat as I normally would.0

Take care of yourself and when you are feeling better get back on track with your diet.
I had a horrible stomach bug last month and I was throwing up for two days straight without being able to hold anything down. I was trying to stay on track but I was soo weak and needed any kind of food I could keep down. I took about a week of not really following the 1200 calories to get myself better. I ate about 1800 -2000 calories for the week since I was so weak for days. I didn't go to the gym that week and just focused on resting and eating. I still made good choices and did not just eat cookies all day but I did splurge and have some comfort foods to help get back on my feet. I was able to make it to the gym 1 week later and have been going strong since then.

This. Especially if it's a stomach bug. But respiratory illness can really take a toll on your body. It's quite possible that your body is craving additional fuel to help fight off whatever virus you have. I'd eat what you feel like eating and concentrate on getting better. Lots of water and rest, too.
Hope you feel better soon! It stinks to be sick!0 -
Thanks All,
Its not like im craving junk food really, I just feel like I need toast and hot choc and yoghurt all day, I've just gone on a carb overload as my body seems to be craving it.....
I'm sure I will be back on track in a few days....Thanks again for your feedback!
