Whats the deal with PVC?

My three year old is temporarily without a bed because my 15 month old began crawling out of her crib and needed my three year old's toddler bed. I was wanting to put my three year old on an air mattress covered with sheets, quilt, etc...

However, I'm reading all this stuff about PVC causing autism, asthma, learning disorders, cancer, etc... And my air mattress contains PVC.

Is it all hype? Or should I skip the mattress??

    Honestly, I am not sure either. I google a lot of things and read about certain things and well, there are always two sides to a story. Ones that believe it will cause all these health problems and ones that say it's safe. Who are you to truly believe?

    Do they even make an air mattress that doesn't contain PVC?

    I am not sure.
