Hi to all the Ladies,

I need to incorporate exercise into my diet. One of the main reasons besides needing motivation sometimes is getting all sweaty and having to do blow my hair straight over and over again. It takes me at least 40min to wash and do my hair. Its probably one of the biggest reasons I always opt out of going for a jog or doing any physical activity How does everyone else go about it? I have restricted my calories to the point where I am not losing and I know that I have to start moving my butt if I want to see any change.

  • I work out first thing in the morning, before I shower or at the end of the day when I don't have anywhere to be afterwards.

Honestly, all that heat and washing is going to ruin your hair if your not careful.. and a little oil is a good thing.

I also straighten my hair, so what i do when I workout is pull my hair up in a high ponytail and use dry shampoo if it gets really greasy. Other then that I wash it every other day or so, and it's fine.

HAHA! I just chopped all of mine off. It will grow back and I really wanted to meet all of my goals, so cutting it just made it that much easier (less time on hair, more time working out). Also when I run in the rain it stays out of my eyes. It takes me 10 seconds to spike it up and go. I love it and surprisingly have gotten a ton of compliments.

I think a lot of us were taught in high school gym class that it was antisocial not to shower after every workout. Due to time constraints I learned quite by accident that some deoderant or antipersperant and a change of underwear is adequate even after a somewhat sweaty workout. You can also take a washcloth and just dab the nasty bits after the workout. Hair definitely doesn't have to be washed and styled after every workout. Sometimes a pony tail during a workout and a little extra hairspray and a blowdryer without any washing at all will perk hair back to stylishness after working out. I know what it's like if you're trying to fit a workout in during lunch hour or something and you need to look professional after lunch. It can be done without the full shower detail. The other options are to work out in the morning then do the usual shower and styling routine. The other idea is to work out after work. Personally, I prefer to work out earlier in the day if at all possible. It just sets the day off right.
Finally, I have found that it doesn't take a huge long sweaty workout to make a difference. A twenty minute walk and some yoga can make a big difference. I am having to learn that because I have developed problems like tendonitis that don't bear a lot of over-exercising.
Everybody and every body is different when it comes to exercise, hygiene, and how we groom ourselves. Don't give up! You will find your niche!

I have naturally curly hair, and once I put it into a ponytail, it isn't coming down until I shower. I either get up early and go work out, or go at the end of the day and just rock the ponytail. I work out at least 5 days a week, usually 7.
