I took a class on clean eating and exercise where they gave me all these tests (blood, physical, etc) and figured out how many calories I needed in a day. I exercised about 5 hours a week for 10 weeks and did not lose a single pound after the first week of detox. I asked the trainers what was going on and their reply was that I HAVE to be cheating. I was so crestfallen and hurt since I had never worked so ard and ate exactly what and how they told me. I had read that people with thyroid issues (like I do) because their metabolism runs a little slower burns 300-500 cals a day less than the average joe. So when the program was over I reduced my caloric intake to 1400 cals/day as to not get any grief and lost ten pounds the first two weeks ( I know crazy but true) Then nothing. Vacation time came and I went off the wagon just a little where I stayed for a few months but weight stayed steady. I have been back "on the wagon" for lack of a better term meaning a perfect diet of all whole foods, whole grains, no sugar or processed food for a month and exercising and have lost nothing. Last week I even gained a pound. Over the weekend I threw a very large cocktail party and had loads of "good eats" not on my diet and was unable to go to the gym for the last 5 days. I got on the scale as a face the music gesture because I was feeling fat, lazy, and sluggish and was DOWN two pounds...WTH is going on? I have been stealing tiny pieces of fudge a few times a day!!!! AAAARRRRGH!!!

I have a similar issue. I am tempted to give in to temptation, because nothing has changed in three weeks, but I know it will fall off sometime. I can't give up, because that is what I have always done in the past. I am ready to change for good! I agree that it is completely frustrating! Good luck to you...

PS- I'm originally from Maine, too!
