How do you stay motivated

Ive been on this cut for too long now and its like im losing that drive that i had in the beginning. my progress is slowed and its not because of my metabolism or any of that i just dont have that same motivation so im eating a bit more. im not gaining but its like a 1-2lb loss/month now. im waaaay too far from my goal to be getting complacent now.
how do you guys stay at it when on a caloric deficit for a really long time? (sry if this topic has been discussed before im fairly new here)

It's probably been discussed to death, but I'm new here too, so I'll join in! Besides, there's never going to be a point where this question is irrelevant, and everyone you speak to will have a different answer.
I suck at staying motivated, frankly, so I don't even know if I should talk. And I could probably live on a very restrictive diet for a very long time without many complaints.
I guess, whenever I feel tempted more than I should, I just remind myself that I prefer to look leaner than enjoy a very momentary, temporary taste sensation. It usually works.
Exercise motivation... Different ball game. That's the one I wrestle with every day. I hate exercise. The gym is a chore for me. It's not that it's difficult, but it's not very stimulating and I get absolutely bored out of my mind.0 -
Only been on this site for just over 2 months, but all I can say is this - those were the hardest 2 months coming from a lifetime of never dieting - properly- at all.
How do I maintain a lifestyle that I've never encountered, and persevere to keep going? I just ask myself if my goals are worth the effort. And they always are. By a longshot.0 -
Wow, your pictures are great!!!..without giving it too much thought since it's finals week and my brain is barely surviving, I would say freshen it up! Do something completely new. Change up the exercise... marathons, hike, join a new class? Idk, I'm just throwing things out there. Do something you've always wanted to do but never took the first step.You gotta search for something to change for the good is pretty much how it goes. And with the food....I think the change in something else in your life, could actually help you to get back the motivation in that area. The big idea here is CHANGE.0

I KNOW THAT THE CLOSER I GOT TO MY GOAL, THE SLOWER THE WEIGHT CAME OFF. IT'S A DAILY EFFORT AND IF I NEED TO TAKE A WEEK OFF FOR VACATION I ALWAYS COME BACK TO IT AND GO HARD THE FOLLOWING WEEK. THERE ARE MANY WAYS WE CAN JUMP START LOSSES AND SPIKE OUR METABOLISM. HAVE YOU TRIED H.I.I.T? WHAT ABOUT GOING VEGAN FOR A MONTH? SPICY FOODS BOOST CALORIE BURN HOURS AFTER CONSUMED, GREEN TEA CAN BURN 80 EXTRA CALS A DAY (FRESH BREWED) ADDING FIBER HELPS AID IN WEIGHT LOSS. PLAY WITH YOUR DIET NOW AND FIND OUT WHAT WORKS BEST FOR YOU. THEN AGAIN I DON'T KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE GOING FOR IN TERMS OF WEIGHT/ BF GOALS. I THINK YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY PERFECT RIGHT NOW. you can go to 0.5lbs loss per week for a while; even go to maintenance calories. you've done a lot, and its normal to need a break. thats why companies give employees vacation time.
what helps me stay motivated is competition. i sign up for things like mud runs, triathlons, 5k's, 10k's, bike rides, etc. having a real, tangible goal can be a big motivator.0 -
I like to plan vacations as my motivation. I'm planning a big trip this summer going to England/Scotland/Greece, so that's my motivation to sticking with it - I want to look gooood on the beach in Greece, and find myself a nice scottish boy in a kilt in Scotland
I also have a bike ride planned in April, 170 miles, which I know will be much easier to accomplish if weighed 30 lbs less. So, all the training rides leading up to it should help me as well.0 -
that is my same problem this past month I'm getting closer, and I don't have the drive anymore, but I realize my size 10 pants r lose ... so I have been keeping that in the back of my mind.0

Even if your weight loss is slow, that doesn't mean you lost your motivation. (Although slowing progress sometimes slows people's motivation...) I think you're doing great just at the rate you're currently going.
Personally, I don't have a timeline for when this weight comes off. If I am hungry, I'm going to eat all the way up to maintenance calories if I feel like it. I am not losing weight for bikini season here. I'm just doing it to avoid diabetes when I'm older, so if I lose some of it this year, and some of it next year, it doesn't really matter as long as it comes off and I can keep it off.
I tried restricting my diet to lose a pound a week, and it made me a hungry, tired, mess. So, I'm losing slower, but it's coming off.0 -
We have our good days and bad days. Stay busy when you are feeling down and not motivated to stay on your current eating style. Maintain your weight for a month (Christmas Season). Discover new foods and ways to stay active. Hang in there! We all have those kind of days.0

Set goals. Without a goal, there isn't anything to work for.
I absolutely hate to exercise. However, once I got my bodybugg, it listed walking 10,000 steps a day as a goal. So, now my goal is to get at least those in whether i get anything else done or not. My other goal is to make sure I reach this goal and as long as I do then i'm striving for perfection. It works for me now, but as soon as I don't get it one day then I fear it will be easy to come up with excuses to not do it, so trying really really hard to keep it going .

Get up, go to work, come home. Repeat. Ditto with fitness. Gotta provide for yourself as well !0
