Does anyone suffer from having low iron? I am trying to decide if that is what's going on with me. Here are my symptoms"
lack of energy
restless sleep
curved nails
love to eat ice
headaches in front

Yes, your symptoms sound like it but really get your blood work done so you know because the symptoms of iron deficiency can be similar to too much iron or other things.0

ok thanks, ya i am going to get it checked. I am just taking a multi vitamin to see if it helps. How much iron should you have?0

i was taking a multivitamin but i was really low on iron
i had to take an iron only vitamin twice a day
i was so tired that slept through my alarm most morning, have more energy now
i was also getting dizzy and feeling low because of lack of sleep
a simple blood test will tell you if you are too low0 -
Thanks, I dont have a problem waking up but I just can't stay alseep. I just feel like I have no energy at all. I have heard if people take Iron it can mess up there bowls, does that happen?0

Watch how you take iron. Do not take it with food or milk. It can cause constipation so up your fibre and drink lots of water0

When you have your iron checked your doctor should tell you which one and how many. I have low iron also. I took 325mg iron tablets but they just didn't sit well with me. My doctor recommended iron shots but I just can't seem to make myself do that. I have been using food combinations (grits and beef) which seem to have bumped it up some and I feel better.0

Go for a physical with complete bloodwork. To make sure it is Iron and your not deficient in any other area. Iron is also absorbed best thru your body when taken with orange juice. I am on iron pills and were given the dose from my Internist based on my blood test results. I was also low in iron during both of my pregnancies. Apricots dried or fresh and spinach are great sources of iron. (*Make sure you are eating your fiber and lots of water... or you'll have more problems.. constipation...:noway: ) Good luck and be well! :flowerforyou:0

My only symptoms were tiredness and I was very pale so not everyone has the same symptoms.
I think how much you take depends on how low you are so I definitly would get your blood work done and talk to your doc about it. I also get copies of my blood tests and do my own research to back up anything the doc suggests. Doctors are human too and can make mistakes or be pressured and overlook things.
I have a very, very sensative tummy so I had to take a liquid vegitarian kind it was the only thing I could keep down. I'm much better now and I dont need iron all the time so I get a cheaper pill now and I only take it during TTOM.
I also try and eat high iron foods many have been suggested already here:)
