I just wanted to put this out there because I am getting a lot of comments and posts from people saying what a motivation I am. I just want you all to know that if I can do it ANYONE can do it. I am going to be honest, I have lost the weight over the course of about 6 years. I have had millions of battles with dieting. Tried EVERYTHING. Weight watchers, atkins, nutrisystem…etc. I have given up and I have lost only to gain it back. I even got to the point where I would barely eat at all because I thought that was the only way I could lose weight. I would get obsessed and when I would cheat I would beat myself up, I would think things like “you fat cow why did you eat that” and I wouldn’t be able to look in the mirror after I would “cheat” for days without hating what I saw just because of a McDonalds meal. I honestly still have battles with self esteem but I’m getting better. I have hit plateaus for months at a time. It has been a VERY long journey and VERY hard. I was alone until about a year and a half ago when I got some girlfriends to diet with me. Then it became an even bigger struggle because they were losing like crazy and I was working out and dieting more hard core then them and I was not losing at all lol Man that is rough. Needless to say I have gone thru it all.
I really wish I knew then what I know now. I lost most of my weight doing low carb diets but when I would go off of them I would binge like crazy because I was sooo restricted (causing weight gain). About a month ago I switched from my usual low carb diets (that I had been doing on and off for 6 years) to just eating low calorie, healthier foods and exercising. It has been a little under a month since I joined MFP, the first two weeks were rough because I was so used to the low carb diets that I would cheat every weekend and gain back what I lost during the week and then some (binging on all the foods I missed). I have to admit I was never into health as much as I am now (Thanks to my best friend Heather who has taught me sooo much). It was always about seeing that scale go down but I never cared what I put into my body. This is no longer a diet for me, it’s a life choice. You really have to understand your body. It’s trial and error. Exercise is VERY important. Whether it’s just a quick walk, working out at the gym, or running marathons, you really need to find what you enjoy the most so you can stick to it. Don’t choose something you dread or you won’t stick to it. Another thing I have learned is the weight loss mainly has to do with what you eat. Eating burger king and then working out to burn those calories is not healthy lol. Make smart choices. Eat, and eat a lot. I eat about every 2 hours but I make smart choices. Starving yourself may cause you to lose weight but you will gain it all back once you eat again (I have done it a million times) It’s ok to treat yourself every now and again, if you restrict yourself it will only end in binges. I still have sooo much to learn but for once in my life I feel great and im getting closer to my goal. For the last week and a half I have been good. Eating healthy, not binging, not beating myself up, sticking to my workouts and loving every minute of it. I am finally losing weight again, and not only that but I am gaining muscle and toning for the first time in my life which makes me SOOOO happy!
I am sure there are more plateaus to come, and more struggles but im ready to take them on. Im going to overcome them! I don’t care if it takes me months or years to lose this last 27lbs! I WILL overcome this! & so will you! Doesn’t matter if you have 5lbs to lose or 500lbs to lose, it doesn’t matter if you are 16 or 65. You CAN do this. If you truly want it you will overcome the battles, you will fight thru the pain, and you will achieve victory. REMEMBER we are all in this together!!!!
