Fruit into fat and eating for tomorrow

Hi all,

I have been reading a book (early xmas present) and it comments that you should only eat one portion of fruit per day for a lean diet as the sugars in the fruit are quickly converted to fats. I eat about five lots of fruit a day and wonder if this is true as my body fat isn't shifting.

Also it says that your muscles use fuel from the food you ate yesterday. So in theory eating lots on a rest day (before a big weights session) is better than fuelling throughout the training day? Also this would aid recovery. If this is true that would be great.

I have noticed that my best workouts are on days off when I go on a nearly empty stomach, but have usually eaten a lot the day before.

Just looking for comments really. As teh book progresses it comes up witrh a plan for diet/boidy sculpting etc. It is really interesting.

The metabolic pathway by which carbohydrate is converted into fat is highly inactive in humans, and only becomes active in the most rare of circumstances.
  • So are you saying that the sugars in fruits won't get turned into fats? Or at least not enough to worry?

I don't want to cut back on fruit because it's tasty and convenient at work, unlike veggies which I don't liek raw or cold.

    Thanks, Martin

Even if sugars were converted to fat, it wouldn't matter. Caloric balance would still determine net fat gain/loss.
  • Thanks.

I've been watching what I eat and working out since August. I am now at a stage where I know what my body is doing but want to understand it some more, hence the book :o)

I'm going to change my macros and my training programme in teh new year, as I learn more.

I still have this darned bit of fat around my belly that just won't shift! The rest of me is looking pretty good I think :o)

    Shall continue to learn, cheers.
