Recently I also have heart burn.Prior to eating healthy I did not have it. I take a little apple cider vinegar and a huge glass a water. I am not sure about doing this long term, Also some else told me to drink flat room temperture coke, she swears by it., I'll try that later.0

Elle, Take calcium citrate- like Citrical one in the morning and 1 before you go to bed about 20-30 min so it has time to dissolve. It is also very good for weightloss! Also watch the caffeine, chocolate, coffee and cheese you have close to bedtime and never have alcohol within even several hours of bedtime. These all loosen the esphogus(sp?) and allow the acid to reflux and cause the stomach to produce extra un needed acid. I have noticed I get bad heartburn from sweetners now since I have been using xylitol instead of sweet n low. I thought it was the food I ate out but when I switched to taking my own xylitol with me and didn't use the sweet n low I didn't get the heartburn and I had the same dishes. Artificial sweetners are highly acidic. Potatoes and sweet potatoes, and most veggies like broccoli, are great for neutralizing acid too. Acid can cause a wide range of problems even sore throats and ear problems so be careful and if it persists see your doctor because unattended it can cause esophogal cancer in the long term. For a list of foods that can help, look up the Acid-Alkaline Diet you can find some great resources and it has really helped me get rid of the acid reflux. Hope this helps!:flowerforyou:

Green veggies, in particular spinach and other leafy veggies, are supposed to help.
Ironically my acid reflux/heartburn went away eating healthy and I'm off the meds, at least for the past month. Go figure.0 -
I have been getting more heartburn since I started MFP, too, and I suspect it is the splenda. I was trying to wean myself off sweets by using foods with splenda, (like cool whip, etc.), but I have found that they are giving me heartburn. So maybe you need to consider the cause, not just a remedy?0
