Hello,

I just signed up on myfitnesspal and have a few questions about the food logging: how do you know to log the right entry for home cooked meals? E.g. if i make a salad with different vegetables, how do i know, how to log it? Which serving size to select, etc? E.g. i made fried rice last night and had the left over in a small container for lunch today. How do i log that? Or when i go to restaurants and order an entree, how would i log that, since usually restaurants give bigger servings.

Sorry about all these food logging question, i just want to make sure, i have it correctly. According to myfitnesspal, i can only consume 1200 calories a day, so that adds up soooooo quickly!

You can enter your recipe into the database and MFP will do all the calculations for you! It's a godsend!

For most restaurants, their food items are in the database already. If not, I usually go to the restaurants website and add the food myself so I know I'm correct. As for homemade recipes, there is a thing under Food where you can add your own recipes and it will tell you how many calories are in it. I just recently discovered the recipe creator and I love it. I feel much more comfortable making my own meals.
