I guess I'll give some background on me first, then see what kind of answers anyone has for me.

I have had Hashimoto's Disease for about 6 years. It is an autoimmune disease that attacks your thyroid-so basically my metabolism sucks, it causes cold hands and feet and a host of other issues. I take meds that help.

Fall 2010 I got on the scale and weighed 178 pounds-the same weight I was full term pregnancy. I decided to get it in gear as my dad has had a massive heart attack and all my relatives are diabetic.

I began running last September and have done 3 5ks, 1 10k, and a half marathon. I had a horrible time completing the half. Found out after that I have Osteoarthritis behind my knee caps. Ouch. So, running is off the table for now as are squats and leg extensions.

I was also diagnosed with UCTD which is an autoimmune disease that mimics lupus, RA, Sjrogren's and a couple of other AI diseases. I take Plaquenil which helps with most symptoms. It makes exercising a challenge some days but I feel MUCH worse if I lay around and do nothing.

I'm currently doing yoga, Zumba (without jumping), walking and weight training (selective leg exercises). Here we get to my questions. Can I do Cross Fit with modifications? Does anyone know of specific training to teach fitness to people with Fibro, Lupus, OA, RA, etc.? I know most instructors are great at letting you modify as needed but I'd really like a class that deals with the issues that go with these diseases. I have lost 21 pounds in the past year, changed my eating completely and can't imagine not exercising now. I'd just like to do what is best for my body long term and wondered if anyone had advice to share.
