    Tell that to my nieces 3rd grade teacher.. she has been encouraging the use of calculators and my sister has been arguing the fact that it is better for kids to learn how to do it long handed with help from a times table when needed.After the teacher dismissed my sisters concern multiply times my sister did a little experiment lol.

    She had my niece take a test at home copied it and had her do the test 2 times. First time was with a calculator and the second with a times table... she finished the the second one 5 min. faster and only got 3 problems incorrect.. the first one took longer and she she got like 7 incorrect. My took the results to the teacher and said then said My daughter is not allowed to use a calculator in your class LMAO. I guess the teacher just stood there with a dumbfounded look on her face.. my sister kissed her daughter good-bye and walked out of the class LMAO..

    Sorry off topic kinda but this just reminded me of how some of the school system is failing our children :-/
