Calories Burned Poll

I did 20 minutes of HIIT last night, and according to my HRM, I burned an average of 12 cals/minute (Note: This was really high intensity and would be hard for me to do much more than 20 minutes). That is normal for me with a heart rate of about 70-90%. My current weight is 188.
I know that some people burn a lot more than that a minute, but don't think it is physically possible for me to.
So my questions are: When working out, how many calories do you burn per minute of your workouts? What intensity are you working out? How do you calculate calories burned (HRM, MFP, cardio machine)?
Thanks!
