Men's pant sizes...

I was just curious if anyone could tell me how they really run. I'm not so hour glass shaped, like a lot of women, more so straight with no waist. Thought I'd give men's jeans a try? My waist still measures about 44 inches, however my hubby has jeans that are 44's and even 42's which are way too big on me! I thought men's pants ran by actual measurements? No?

  • When I was younger I had to wear men's jeans because NONE of any of the girls pants would fit me. I'm not sure how the sizes run. It will probably be trial & error of trying several sizes on. Good luck!!!

My waist measures 40.5 to 41" depending on water;)

Old Navy 36" jeans need a belt. They are a little loose.

It is supposed to be a direct measurement but given how our whole lower body is different it may not translate the same on a lady.
We are pretty much a straight line from ankle to waist while a ladys thighs begin the natural progression to wider hips needed for child birth, that will change the fit even if the measurement is the same.
Some ladies have that curving more then others so for one it isn`t an issue and another impossible to wear.

They are true to size, but brands vary.
There is a 2 inch difference between my Gap jean size and my Boss jean size, and both fit.

Even though men's pants sizes are supposed to be based on measurements they still have some vanity sizing going on just like women's pants do. My ex's jeans were all size 34 and the actual waist size on them was 38!
