I have never made a smoothies before but I have notices that I am not eating enough fruit or vegetables. If you have time I would really appreciate some help. Thank you.

I have nothing against smoothies but I am curious: Do you think you'd get more satisfaction out of eating the ingredients instead of drinking them in a smoothie?

I find that I'm more satisfied (and so is my hunger) by eating food.

I am just bringing this up in case you've not considered simply eating more fruit and veggies.

Smoothies have their time and place, but I'm not sure I'm into a veggie drink.

I like one for a quick breakfast on Sundays when I'm doing a million things and want to be out of the house already - it's a low fat coffee yogurt, a cup of calcium enriched orange juice, and half a scoop of chocolate whey protein powder.

i recently started making smoothies for the exact same reason i actually blog about mine on mfp share the recipes and a photo of them.

i just buy whatever fruit i like, mango, pineapple, bananas, blueberries, strawberries, melon and advacado, especially if they're on offer at the shop, i cut them all up and freeze them laid out on a tray so they dont stick together then pop them into a tupperwear box in the freezer.

I also buy the cartons of pure (not from concentrate) orange juice (or other variations, tropical, mango etc) and i freeze some into icecubes and then put them in the box too for when i run out of the stuff in the fridge.

I also buy the bags of frozen fruit from the shop and use those, especially when the "good" fruit is out of season.

then i just try out different combos.

sometimes i add in some protein powder if i need it and sometimes when i want a thicker smoothie i'll add in some soy milk and i've even added spinach to one too, which i couldnt taste at all!

if you want to, feel free to add me as a friend, i log smoothies most days so should give you some inspiration.

i love eating veg, LOVE it but i'm so picky with fruit and sometimes it puts me off, blending them and putting them in a smoothie means i'm not being picky about whether it has a bruise or not!

I just made an awesome one the other night..

1/4 - 1/2 cup of frozen spinach (your preference)

    1/2 cup frozen blueberries

    1 c. skim milk

    1 banana

    2-3 ice cubes

Blend it all up and you have yourself a yummy smoothie. You can add a sweetener of your choice, too. I didn't and noticed it was slightly bland (first time making this) but the banana wasn't ripened yet. I'm going to add strawberries next time. This was really good and no taste of spinach at all!

I love smoothies! Although I don't crave them when it's so cold out..but they are a great way to get your fruits and veggies! Some good combo's I've made:

    1/2 ripe banana
2 cups fresh spinach (you can't taste it, I promise you)
    1 T peanut butter
    1 T cocoa powder
    1 scoop protein powder (optional)
1 cup almond milk (or milk of your choice)

    -OR-

    1/2 ripe banana
    1/4 C blueberries
    1 pear
    2 cups spinach
    1 tsp cinnamon
    1 scoop protein powder (optional)
1 cup almond milk (or milk of your choice)

If I feel like being 'extra healthy' I'll throw in a little flaxseed meal, or chia seeds :)

I agree but must admit that I don't like to eat veggies or fruit. I just don't like it at all. Because of this I have started drinking green smoothies. I always start with 1 to 2 cups of spinach or some kind of green (PROMISE you can't taste it). I then add in multiple fruits. This mornings smoothie consisted of Spinach, Grapes, Banana, Pear, Strawberries and Plain Yogurt. It was sooo yummy.

Play around with fruits and veggies in the blender. If you're intimidated by fresh food or short on time just use frozen instead. Try to add the greens in so that you can get your veggies. You can't taste it. If I could taste the veggies I wouldn't touch the stuff and I LOVE it.
