HCG- Yahoo

On Yahoo there is an article called Diets that don't work. I'm against dieting just because it has the word die in it. ( Just joking..sort of)
It talked about the HCG diet and I know I've seen threads of people asking about it so I figured I'd pass it along. The full article link is at the bottom.
The Basics: This diet is an intense, 40-day, 500-calorie diet consisting of vegetables, fruits, and two meals of 3.5 ounces of protein alongside injections of HCG, a hormone found in pregnant women. The theory is that it will create some symptoms of pregnancy, such as nausea from morning sickness, to help control your desire to eat. While injections aren’t the only way HCG is distributed (there are tablets, etc.), it is believed that the injection method is the only one that is of any benefit.
Why It Won't Work: “This is a completely unsafe method of losing weight. A 500-calorie diet is considered unsafe because it is so hypo-caloric that it could never meet your needs,” explains Bock. Plus, he goes on to say that there is no proof that the hormone itself will help you lose weight.

Thanks for posting that information!
I know several people that tried the HCG diet, one on the advice of a so-called nurse they happened to be friends with. Of course they lost a lot of weight eating only 500 calories a day, but they were hungry and tired and cranky all the time. Then, as with all other extreme yo yo diets, the weight came back as soon as they started eating in a normal calorie range again, even when they were eating as healthy as possible and exercising. Putting your body into starvation mode for several weeks is NOT safe, HCG or no HCG. The FDA is now in the process of getting all that fraudulent stuff off the market, and it's about time! Hopefully, the government will now target the unethical doctors and weight loss clinics that make big money by promoting this scam.
Here are some good articles about the dangers of the HCG diet, for those who want to read them:

The sad part is that, it should never have been put on the market to begin with... as if we dont have enough hormonally treated animals in government-controlled farms....the chemicals... UGHHHHHHHH....0 -
I think I even read that the hcg guy had been in trouble already for something else with the FDA0
