I am so glad that I found this site! After a lifetime (58 years) of obesity I now have a tool that has really changed the way I eat and exercise. I am not obsessive about exact calorie counts for either my food intake or exercise. Instead, I am content to use approximate numbers when the specific nutritional counts are not available (i.e restaurant food). I used the tools on this site to set up a program to lose 2 lbs/week. It seems that I am becoming more in tune with what my body really needs, and therefore am expending more calories through both exercise and just getting off of the couch and LIVING LIFE! At the same time I am able to control my food intake without consciously thinking about it - this is probably the biggest ingredient to my success so far. My standard procedure for restaurant eating is now to divide my meal into 2 - 3 portions (depending on what I order), and eat one portion which usually fills me up. The rest is lunch or dinner for another day later in the week, which I can share with my wife or daughter who are also cutting calories. In addition to the benefits of controlling calories and having a pre-made meal that can be popped in the microwave, I now get 2 or 3 meals for the price of one!
My first goal was to lose 20 lbs. by Christmas - and I met that goal by Thanksgiving! I am not suffering from food withdrawal, and have been able to actually start RUNNING on a treadmill for the first time in probably 20 years! Also my blood pressure and cholesterol levels are dropping, so my doctor will not be prescribing the medications for these conditions that he originally wanted to - what a relief!
I still have a long way to go to reach my ultimate goal, but I can now see the end of this journey and I will get there!
