low sugar afternoon snack

Hi,
I am looking for a snack to have mid afternoon, I always need something after my lunch just to tide me over until I have my evening meal.
I have either been eating yogurts or apples but both have high sugar content. I eat alot of veg at lunch time and also in the evening. I can't eat anything with wheat in it.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

Try some protein. I found smoked mozzarella string cheese--made with skim milk--really satisfies for about 70 calories. Or add a teaspoon of peanut butter to your apple.0

I like Becky's suggestions, too. Also, one of my favorite snacks lately has been a serving of beef jerky, an orange and hot tea. Lol. Wierd combo. Greek yogurt with a sprinkle of granola is a favorite.0

I really like the cheese idea as I was eating far too much cheese and have cut it out my diet. This way I can have it back in my diet and not go mad on the calories!
I've never had a beef jerky before, I'm not even sure I know what it is!!!
Almonds, also a great idea, thank you.0
