Do you have a rec. for one? I would love to get one, probably in February. Right now I'm considered obese but I don't know if that matters much. Thanks. =]

Make sure it has a chest strap... I have a Polar FT7 and love it, but wish I had spent just a bit more for a FT60 (so you can program V02 max) but most people probably don't care about that much.

My husband has an FT7, and he loves it. I steal it sometimes, but think it's more than I need. I am doing 30 Day Shred now, and in the summer I bike, but I typically use mapmyride on my phone for that, and the chest strap to compare, and usually mapmyride estimates a bit on the low side, so I tend to go with that without worry. I think I'll probably pick up the FT4 for myself here after the first of the year when all of that stuff goes on sale. :-)

Was in Costco today and saw that they are carrying one that I've heard people talking about for $169. Sorry, I don't have more info.

It all depends on your workout needs and what you want. I've heard nothing but good things about Polar but I went with a bluetooth Zephyr HxM because fit my needs (and wallet) better. I wrote a review of it in my blog here http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/shivaslives/view/review-of-the-zephyr-hxm-bluetooth-heart-rate-monitor-176022
It's not for everyone but you can decide for yourself.

I bought a used Sportline DUO with chest strap off of Ebay for cheap cheap cheap. It works well for needs and fit my budget. It has a lot extra gadgets that I would never use. Took me awhile to figure out how to program it however it works great, the chest strap is also lightweight. Keeps my workout history for a week, tells me calories burned, fat burned etc.
