I have been using Walden FArms products for the last bit. The caramel dip in oats, caramel syrup in greek yogurt...any thoughts on what effect these products have on weight loss? Can they be the culprit? Why I seem to be doing everything right but can't drop pound?
What are your thoughts and what are some recommendations to flavour oats and yogurt...

My favorite bowl of oatmeal is 1/2 blueberries, 1/4 unsweetened applesauce, 2 tsps of cinnamon, 1 tbsp of natural pb, and I sub a half of a cup of water for 1/2 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk. I used to put in maple syrup or honey just a tsp but I am trying to avoid extra sugar currently.
So I guess I am suggesting fruit lol. I like to dip apples in greek yogurt if it is plain. From what I have read about those Walden Farm products, I don't like them. I really try and stay away from artificial things though. I don't know if they would be the cause but your body might not know what to do with them.0 -
I like my oatmeal with either/or one spoon cocoa /some cinnamon
or some red berries0 -
I'm wondering if you're not actually eating enough of your exercise calories back.
Here's a link with some topics on MFP that cover this:

I wouldn't be eating that stuff.
I do not trust Splenda or any of these chemicals food companies use for sweetener.
It's just junk food with a nice marketing plan. Bottom line?
There is no easy way to lose weight and be fit, It's actually very simple but hard.
I try to eat lots of whole grains, nuts, lean meats, low fat dairy, fresh fruits and veggies.
I do not want junk food in any form.0 -
I truly believe in the theory that we are all very different. I mean yes, biology is biology but our bodies respond to things differently. I use splenda often with no issues at all but don't do well with aspartame. After 12 years of severe ezcema and stomach issues I've just recently concluded I have a milk intolerance - have cut it out (or way back and used digestion pills when I do have a smidge of cheese or yogurt) and I feel tons better. I have a close friend who swears by a lot of dairy helping her lose her 90+ lbs she's lost and kept off.
So, what I'd say if asked? Try without for a week or two and see what happens. Not just on the scale - but pay attention to how you are feeling, sleeping, skin, etc... We all have things that we just don't tolerate well.
I try not to add a bunch of fake stuff but a smidge here or there (like my splenda in my coffee or the few treats I make at home) I'm okay with. That's just me.
Give it a week without - probably more actually as it takes a bit to clean it out of your system. See if it makes any difference?
I also concluded that my biggest obstacles in weight stalls are #1 Not eating enough (I do often have to eat back most of my exercise calories to lose OR I go all week without eating them back but then one evening go a little over my goal - that seems to keep things moving). #2. Not getting enough SLEEP. For me sleep seems to be the BIG issue - I can skip a weeks workout and hover slightly above my calorie goal and if I've slept well I lose. I can have another week where I don't sleep well but do all the rest good and I don't lose. That is why I weigh in only on days I can sleep in hee hee - on the other days I'm a few pounds heavier. I wore a bodymedia fit for a year and really learned from that the role that sleep plays in my weight loss. So, the first thing I tell people: are you sleeping?0 -
The short answer is no.
The long answer is way too long but feel free to visit this link.

Thanks for all the responses.
So I am going to drop the stuff and see what happens. The caramel dip has corn starch and other junk in in and the syrups have loads of fillers...if not for weight loss then for health. I use way too much. I agree a splenda in a coffee or whatever is ok, but I think I am overdoing the walden farms product. SO with that said, I am going to take the advice given to use fruit to sweeten and.or cinnamon and a touch of splenda. I will see what happens.
I am curious about the exercise cals recommendation...did you look at my diary? I am eating 1600-1700 and only do weights 4 times per week and bikram hot yoga 90min 3 times per week. No cardio for one month. Started Jamie Easons 12 week trainer. So not sure it is a calorie thing. But that is actually why I decided to try this program. I was doing lots before and not moving so I want to see what happens if I do less... so I am burning on average prob 250 calories a day according to MFP. Now I do thing my weight training and yoga sessions burn more than MFP suggests but it is hard to say. Don't have a HRM.
I will drop the sweeteners this week and let you know next Sunday how it all turned out. I am not talking about the scale. I am just going by the way I feel, and cloths etc.
Any other input is welcome.
Thanks again0 -
Regarding your diary, it seems you are well below your goal every day. As you don't have much to lose you "should" be closer to your goal than you have been. And it really is just a balancing act. As you get nearer your goal it will be harder to lose.0

lol sidesteal.
As for my diary...you are seeing maintenance plus workout (I set it up Olivia Method) so the real deficit is not more than what is shown...sometime I only have 120 cals left over.
But please let me know if I am missing something... I will try just about anything to nix these last lbs (to lean down)0 -
