I am watching a 15 year old Jack Russell for my friend while she is in FL and this dog is driving me crazy! I have watched him before but he was mainly at his house the whole time. She says she thinks he is going blind and deaf and that's why he doesn't listen. BS if she reared him like she does her six year old then that's why he doesn't listen...................at all, does not listen at all. Not to mention he has no problem, seeing and hearing the dogs on tv from another room (he barks at them) He whines in the middle of the night incessantly, nips if you try to put him in his crate, he has peed on the floor twice, despite going out A LOT, and he has hardly eaten anything since Sat and what he did eat this morning he immediately threw up on my carpet. I have never hated an animal, I am a huge animal lover.................but I strongly dislike this dog. I think I am just going to take him home and have to go over her house 3 or 4 times a day.....better than the alternative. Then I am going to give my babies a big hug and tell them how good I think they are. Ahh that feels so much better I just had to get that out. Thanks for listening and please share if you have any pet watching horror stories.

I have a cousin who does all of those things. Oddly enough, his name is Jack.

I dislike all of my husbands animals. We have a 3 legged cat that is restricted to the kitchen because she craps, pukes and pisses wherever the hell she wants... can't tell you how sanitary it is to have a kitchen with a litter box in it.. not to mention litter scattered on most of the floor.. on top of the cat hair and vomits and poop too. His dog pees when it gets excited.. so basically every time we have company, you play fetch or pet him... and 2 nights ago he must have been sick because our rug at the front of the house was covered in dog diarrhea.. so f'n gross. I threw out the carpet. And the second cat that has free reign of the house has been vomiting lately as well... most notably all over my hair tools... hair dryer, flat iron and pink mat.

I hate animals, they are cute when they are little but when they grow up they absolutely disgust me... raising children is rewarding, taking care of an animal is a waste of time. I hate them.

So cute, but Jack Russell terriers are evil! I had one for awhile and she nearly drove me insane. My sister has her now, thank God.

The poor thing is just as anxious about being in your house as you are having him. He will be happier if you take him home, IMO.

omg...had a big fight with a friend of mine on Friday and I think it was really caused by my not being willing to take her dog for several walks on saturday while she was out of town. first...I'm allergic to dogs, second...he's a husky and I'm scared of big dogs, third...she's never trained him and he's a freaking lunatic. If you want to not lose your dog...don't ask me to walk him.

Wow I would have told her where to shove that dog, especially since you are allergic and afraid of him. She isn't much of a friend.

Jack Russels aren't EVIL .. They are very high energy dogs and extremely intelligent. They do not thrive on the same attention as a more relaxed lab or german shepard .. They need exercise .. Regularily and LOTS of it. If the dog is acting out it's because it's needs are not being met. Not eating and throwing up, even peeing on the floor can be a signs of stress. This dog has been slammed into a competely different environment, nothing is familiar. Dogs like this will often stress when their owners leave them. He is doing what he is hardwired to do.

I think if you research a little, you may find a better understanding of how to treat this dog. It's not just that he is a bad dog. With a little effort, you might find a little peace.

This dog pisses and vomits on the floor at his own house, she has to put down puppy pads which she also never trained him to use, also this is not the first time this dog has been to my house and been watched by me. He won't eat his own food but he sure gobbled down that ham I had. She also tells me he whines a lot which means it isn't just stress from separation he is whining about. He is 15 his needs cannot be met that easily. I didn't say he was a bad dog I said he was a pain in the butt and I didn't like him........I realize that he is old and a lot of his problems stem from this. What pisses me off is having to watch a dog that the owner sucked at training.

Unusual to have a dog that vomits so often. That is a sign of either stomach or digestive problems, alergies to food or acute stress. I know I have to watch what I feed my own dog. There are certain things he can't digest, and will throw up numerous times for days afterward. Those rawhide chewies are the worst.

Hard to say without knowing more, but, aside from being enabled to do what ever he wants where he wants, I wonder if there isn't some deeper underlying problem. There are definately some issues with Jack Russels. Although they are awesome dogs, if they aren't cared for properly, there will be issues .. guaranteed.

Personally, I would never choose to have one. They are very high maintenance (at least as far as the majority goes). There are acceptions to EVERY rule.

And I can understand why you are so frustrated taking care of a high maintenance dog with poor manners. I feel your pain.
