Okay, so I know I will recieve a lot of crap...but I do not eat breakfast...ever. Its not that I do not want to, but I cant. I get sick or extremely queasy if I do. Its been happening since I was a young child. Does anyone have this same problem? Suggestions? Im wanting to attempt to eat breakfast, hopefully boosting my weightloss. Plus, I do p90x, 5 days a week, so i have a ton of calories to eat. (which im still unsure if you should eat back all the calories you burned from working out).

Thanks for any help :)

I can't eat when I first get up. It's usually coffee only for me. Then about 3 hours later, around 8am, as I am sitting down at my desk I can whip out a carton of cottage cheese or greek yogurt. Go for something with lots of protien. Doesn't have to be breakfast food. Alot of times I will do a low carb tortilla with peanut butter and bananas. Try to get something in so that you don't run out of steam before lunch time.

Breakfast will not boost your weightloss unless it somehow causes you to eat less calories for the day.

Assuming that you eat in a deficit over the course of time then you can keep skipping breakfast with no ill effects on your metabolism or weight loss.

I wake up at 6am and I typically don't eat until 2pm and sometimes as late as 6pm.

Focus on end-of-day nutritional totals and set up the timing/frequency (when you eat) based on personal preference and gym performance and disregard the rest.

Hey there, maybe you should try drinking a fresh fruit smoothie, it's a little lighter on the stomach for breakfast. Also, no you should not eat back the calories you burned, otherwise you'll just be at the same caloric intact. At least, that is what I believe, if anyone has a different opinion, please speak up.

Unless I wake up starving I have to wait at least an hour or two before eating in the morning. If you workout in the morning and want to eat first, start with something small, like half of a mini bagel with peanut butter.

I used to be unable to eat breakfast but just did it anyway, and before long, I just got over those queasy feelings.
That was over 30 years ago, but I still remember....

I am like this, too. I wake up at 5 am to work out and then get ready for work. I eat an apple on my way to work (between 7:30 and 8:00). Sometimes I don't even eat that and just wait until 9:30 to eat a Clif Bar or crackers. Those are really the only suggestions that I have. Maybe you could eat something after you have been awake for a while, something that won't make you sick. (whole wheat toast with light butter, english muffin, just something that won't make you want to hurl)
I tend to break all of the rules. I rarely, if ever, eat back my exercise calories and that is probably the reason I don't lose weight, but I can only eat what I can eat.

was waiting for acg to comment on this one.

If you don't want to eat breakfast, don't. It's a good opportunity to get more calories in later in the day. I wish I could go without breakfast so ı could indulge in larger meals, but I love my brekkie!

You don't need to eat breakfast as long as you get all your caloires and macros.

with respect to exercise cals, the diet guide with P90X suggest the lowest caloric intake be 1800, if this is the case you don't need to eat back the cals you burn. If you are following MFP's caloric intake guidelines then yes you should be eating them back.
  • I've had a similar problem of feeling sick when I first get up. Sometimes so bad I have to lay in bed till it passes. I've had this problem since I was a kid. When I was in college it was worse and I saw a gastro specialist and found out that it was gastritis (inflammation of the stomach lining, I think) caused from my lactose intolerance. It can also be caused from too much alcohol. It's not a problem now that I have the lactose intolerance under control. So, it may be a symptom of an underlying issue that is easy to control.

I think people push eating breakfast so that you don't binge later in the day and eat even more calories than planned. If you are able to continue managing your calories without breakfast then you are good to go. As far as I understand, your total calorie intake needs to be below what you are burning in order to lose weight.
