I think it's kind of funny that a lot of people that are looking for the easier way are actually making things a lot harder than they need to be. There's too much time wasted worrying about special diets, avoiding foods because they are "bad", and worrying about special pills and supplements. I have a metabolism like a snail and I still lost 100 lbs just by eating mostly healthy, watching my calories, and walking or biking a few miles a day. I won't even let being on a medication that cause weight gain get in my way, I just work harder to get those losses.

Your comment is so accurate. Besides all the time wasted with yo-yo losses and gains, that takes a toll on your body and makes it harder for it to respond when you finally realize that there's no magic beans and you buckle down to do it the right way!

The easiest and hardest thing I have ever done was jjoining this site. I always looked for a way to do it fast but I never did consider surgery, although my mom kept pushing me for lap band since she did it and I have a friend who is successful at gastric, but it was never for me. And those who have had those surgeries seem to have to work extra hard and have some bad side effects. My aunt spent months in the hospital after her gastric and is still not well and has almost died several times from the complications. Not worth it for me. But to each their own.

See, I had blinders on. I knew I was big, always have been since I was a kid. But until I finally got weighed the last time and she told me I was 381 I was in a dream world that was shattered. I joined this site on that day and am still learning and struggling but am trying.

PPl dont want to work hard for anything, the easy way is the best way. My father told me when I was coming up.... ANYTHING WORTH HAVING IS WORTH WORKING FOR! In the fitness term, its easy to gain but hard to lose! Work at it hard and you will achieve your goal and feel better about yourself. You are not going to lose all the extra weight in 1 day, you didnt gain it in 1 day... Do some form of exercise everyday, try to eat clean, and never quit. Surround yourself with positive ppl....

I wasn't going to answer but decided I would. Sure the surgury isn't easy. You go weeks on a liquid diet, slowely easing back to food, trying to figure out what foods you can eat and what foods will make you painfully vomit. You have to cope with the psycological disorders you will develop as well as the lose skin that is a result of the fast weight loss. Which in return, more unnecessary surgeries that may or may not cause complications.

I do have grounds to say that this is an easy way out. I watched for many many years my sister diet. She did it all, nutrisystem, weight watchers, bernsteins, optifast, beachbody...you name it she did it and she looked great everytime. She lost her weight would reach her goals and continue back to grabbing a bag of mrs. vickies chips and a 2 L bottle of pepsi...THAT WAS HERS heavan forbid she share. Than gaining back the weight once again...she had a gastric bi-pass. It wasn't easy....but you knew the side affects....you still went with it. It was still an easy way out. She wanted fast results.....she got them, just like she always wanted. But like any other program out there, it's just a diet. WHY because no sooner could she eat solid foods, no sooner did she reach her goal, she figured out how to eat her french fries, how to eat her Mrs. Vicki Chips and polish off a 2 L bottle of pop. AND guess what...after everything she went through, after everything the family went through....she is gaining her weight back and your right, I have no sympathy.

She lost the weight on her own...but she didn't want to stick to a life style change. She lost the weight, she succeeded and went back to her same old habits. You don't need surgury, you need food counseling to figure out why you eat the things that you eat and you need to be willing to commit to a life style change.
