Breastfeeding calories

Should I be adding breastfeeding to my food diary? It says that I can subtract 500 calories. If that is true (since I only eat about 1200-1400 a day...and I can not eat more than that), then after exercise I am only getting about 500 calories or so a day. Is this correct?

Yes, nursing USES calories. You need to eat more to make good milk for your baby, and make sure you are drinking enough. Eat higher calorie foods (not fattening foods), like nuts, if you need more calories.
I peeked at your food diary. I nursed 7 kids. (The last two for three years.) How old is your baby? How often is he/she nursing? You need higher calories. You can add cheese, peanut butter, tuna melts, proteins. You need to make good milk for the baby to grow well. You will still lose weight, especially if you add exercise. We have a group of nursing mothers. I can ask Deanna to add you to our group, but we all know each other from a sewing list.0 -
along with nuts, eat bananas, fruit juice, pasta (whole grain), peanut butter...you can even enjoy some full fat cheese once in a while! You can't feed baby and mama on 500 calories a day0
