I'm looking for friends who are dedicated to low carbing, preferably through Atkins type of philosophy. Please make your diary available. I'm excited to see how your doing things.

  • Hey I just shifted my goals around so I'm only allowed 30g of carbs a day and the rest made up of fats and protein.

Only started yesterday and restarted my ticker. Feel free to add me and take a look at my diary
  • did you sort your goals in the end hunny?

atkins was once the thing to do. its still around a bit but not a "hot" thing anymore. this "diet" lets get in shape and be healthy thing requires us to ignore what we see on TV and hear on the news. What we need to do is simple yet not. Eat real food. Low fat. high fat, sugar free and all that is nonsense. Eat real food (ingrdients are understandable) move (exercise) there are no secrets. eat good. exercise.. thats it..good luck. join us.

Yep I managed it. Thanks for your help yesterday x
  • I wanted to post this just because it was my experience.

I did the low carb diet 2 times. Three years ago I dropped 30 pounds doing it. I got kidney stones and after the whole ordeal, I did not rebound as I was out of commission for a month and a half from running. I gained that 30 pounds back quick!

This year, since June 20th, lost 44 pounds by November 11th (weighed 200lbs flat and was on the verge of breaking 200!). Went on a 7 day cruise/vacation. Weighed in on November 22 when I got back and weighed 219 pounds. No, I was not exercising or eating well during vacation, but it was vacation. BUT...for the second time, seeing it come back that quick is startling.

When I was doing low carb, I would do less than 25 grams of carb a day. And on average I was jogging 4.5 miles 5 days out of the week.

My wife has been on MFP and has had great results. She returned from vacation with only 1.5 pounds gained and she was "partying" right next to me.

So, I am changing up and doing MFP. Already, I can tell that I am learning more about how to eat and I am not having to worry about carbs "as much". Will let you know how that turns out in a couple of weeks :)

By the way, I still use the Atkins shakes alot. Best price I have found them is at Sam's (if you are in the states).
