Today I was kinda in a hurry but I was thinking that I have a weight in a few days from now so I didn’t want anything really bad. *light comes on* SUBWAY! They are on the healthy side of fast food, cant go two wrong with that... right?

So looking over the menu (as I haven't been there and caring what I eat) I see turkey breast is the lowest at something like 180 cals. Sounds awesome right?

So I get my sandwich and OJ and a bag of chips (figured it was better then 3 cookies) only bad thing is that I got chicken breast instead of turkey, but hey it can’t be that big of a deal right?

day goes on and I come home to log everything, doing a fast search and it showing me like 1400 cals (just for the sub) NO WAY RIGHT! Do a little bit more research; what I actually ate was 1,032 cals. And that is just the sandwich (another 380 for chips and drink)

So once again, "just because you have a 20 calorie salad doesn't mean that you should 130 calories of dressing on it"

It was just such an eye opener for me; here I was thinking that it would be around the 500 mark. And almost triple that... I didn’t even think!

I've made a list in a memo on my phone of places I eat and what is ok for me to order so I always know what I can have, for just that reason. I've ordered something thinking I was making a good choice and then BAM! I totally messed up my day. I wouldn't order orange juice just because I don't want to drink my calories. Also, their calorie counts are for the 6" sub. Most, if not all, restaurant chains have the nutrition information on their websites, so that's where I go to figure out what I can have (or here on MFP). If I'm going out with friends, I find out where we're going and make a list of choices, then I don't have to look at the menu and be tempted by something that could totally blow my day.
