I had to post I am doing c25k and i just made the W5D3. I ran for 20 min straight for the first time in 10 yrs and i feel awesome!!!! I took 2 days off trying to put off this run because I was scared of it. But tonight I remembered someone saying in here not to go more than 2 days between running because you might injure your muscles so I couldn't put it off anymore. I was so worried and depressed because I was sure I couldn't make the whole run. Before I knew it the bell dinged(?) and I hadn't stopped running yet!!!!!!!!

Congrats...I finished week2 this morning, and am nervous about week3, which starts on Wednesday.
My fiance, who was a pack and a half smoker a few years ago and also on MFP, finished the c25k program a few months ago and is now training for a leg in a marathon. Her advice was just to slow down and pace yourself, but keep going. I ran today at 5.3-5.4, and feel if I go much faster, I'll never make it. At any rate, I will do my best and no matter what - am not on the Couch!
I've heard that jogging/running really will contribute to weight loss, and I can't wait to experience that benefit!
~~ Good luck and Happy New Year ~~0 -
Thanks everyone. @ lawson It gets easier but by the time it gets easier the program changes lol. I wish I was at a 5.3 or 5.4 mph. My pace is closer to 4mph but I know I will get faster. The biggest hurdle for me was and still is duration. Keep it up. We can and will do this.
Oh and happy new year all.0 -
Great job on doing this. I am worried about week 4 let alone the 20 minute straight.
Getting ready to start week 4. I started with week 3 . Anyway, I walk at 3.5 and run/jog at 5.5. Does that sound like a resonable pace? I have been doing alot of aerobic activity ... is why I started on week 3. That 3 minute strech was not fun.
Thanks for info.0 -

It's not a bad pace. I've been told that you should be able to hold a conversation while you run, if you can't slow down some. Thanks for the encouragement. And your welcome for the info, keep in mind i'm not a dr or a physical trainer. I'm just parroting what I've read and been told on this site.0 -
headed off to the gym to start week3 this morning. I'll post an update later - keep it up everyone!!0

week 3, day 2 completed today... since the gym is closed on Sunday, i might have to wait until Monday to do w3/d3 as it's cold here and I'm not an outside runner yet. I actually felt it was a little easier than week 2. Merry Christmas everyone!0

Keep up the great work!
I am working on week 8 now!! I can hardly believe it ( also, I am only running twice a week. So far, so good)

Well done everyone! I started the program in June and just about made it through the first run. Now I run four times a week with a 5K every Saturday and have signed up for a 10K in February (I did Bridge to 10K as a follow-on). I can't believe how much I enjoy running!0

Way to go!!! I am in the middle of my second go at week 3. The only thing that keeps me from finishing it and moving on to week 4 is fear. I have never been a runner, and I am hoping that I can get there!
You have inspired me! Keep it up! You will have c25k complete before you know it!0 -
WTG! I finished C25K in September and have done 5 5Ks since finishing. I should be their national spokesperson because before C25K I couldn't have run to my mailbox. Don't worry about time, just finishing. Congrats again!0

tough day yesterday - gym was closed and the only thing i ran to was the cookie tin - back on it today - thinking of getting a heart rate monitor.0

For me it was the popcorn tub at the movies. But my son put me through a few ab exercises (my children enjoy torturing me when they can say they are helping me get healthy lol) and man am i tight today. But that just tells me i'm working hard.0 -
Awesome! That was me just a few weeks ago, so I understand what you're saying. I'm now doing 2-3 mile runs 3-4 times a week and its getting easier all the time. Keep it up!!0

Finishing C25K week 4 today, and just registered for my first 5K - on May 6, 2012. I want to be able to comfortably run this 5K and improve my running technique, breathing, and speed prior to this race! Happy New Year!0
-
Awesome keep up the good work. I finished w6 d2, but i moved back down to wk3 d1 to work on speed cause i have to pass a military pt test and am not running fast enough. After i pass which will be this month or next i will finish it out and go all the way through. I only have 18:14 to do the 1.5 mile run and my currant time is about 19 minutes. I know I can run for 20 minutes straight (thank you week 5) so now I'm working on speed. I'm still running though and finishing c25k and 30ds WILL be some of my accomplishments for 2012!0

Congrats! It is wonderful news and W5D3 is always a mental challenge. Keep up the good work and keep the faith in C25K. I completed it in September and ran for 57 minutes straight on Friday.
Enjoy and good luck!0
