At the doctors, they say you can safely lose 2-3lb a week.

I'm wondering, is there a safe limit on the amount of inches you can lose off your waist. e.g. 1 inch a fortnight.

If anyone knows, please let me know as I plan to do the "sexier by valentines" challenge, but don't want to aim too high.

I would say how much you can "safely" lose per week depends on how much you have to lose total. Someone with 100# or more to lose can drop weight quicker than someone with 20# to lose. There's only so many calories you can cut per day without becoming nutritionally deprived. There might be the occasional week where someone might drop three pounds, but to expect it consistently is to set yourself up for disappointment.

As far as inches, I'd say however many you lose while losing weight in safe manner is... a safe amount to lose. Helpful, right? But seriously, if you're losing for inches, you're aiming to lose body fat, so a smaller calorie deficit and maintaining muscle mass is what's most important. Otherwise, you run the risk of being skinny fat, which would mean having a larger waist than someone leaner.

I think it makes sense...I'm a bit sleep-deprived at the moment but will re-read this when awake. Thanks for the answer though. How are you anyways?
