I'm not really new to MFP but, I am fairly new to posting in the forums. I've made a lot of changes but am getting really discouraged that I am not seeing any benefits. I have no problem working hard, but what I do have a problem with is working hard and getting next to no reward.

In the last month I have:

1. Purchased a treadmill and religously completed three 30-45 minute workouts per week. I've run intervals, long slow jogs, long walks with hand weights and steep inclines. (Differnet times of day but usually twice in the AM and once a week in the evening.)

2. Had no non-diet beverages, no alcohol, and probably doubled my water consumption.

3. Have paid attention to what I ate and not had any binge/mindless eating episodes. On average I eat 1200 calories daily, the highest being 1600 calories in a day.

I CANNOT believe that for months I did NONE of these things and now I've been "good" for a little over a month and have lost NO WEIGHT. I've kept my chin up and haven't given up- but seriously, how in the world can I be making this many changes and not be one pound or one inch smaller?!

Do any of you have any ideas that you would be willing to share?

K

This is a basic one, but just in case... do you use measuring spoons/ cups/ food scale? Some people underestimate their calories significantly.

Also, how tall are you, and how much do you currently weigh? The less you have to lose, the slower the weight comes off.

How consistent is your sodium and carb intake? Inconsistency in either area can cause you to gain weight.

Do you weigh yourself at the same time of the day, wearing the same thing(s)?

I reccommend interval training on your treadmill this seems to make a great difference it shocks your body , for instance
90 sec at a slow pace and then 90 sec at a jog and then pump it up for and run for another 90 sec s then back down again and so on do this for at least 30 mins and you will see results you can also add inclines if you like .

this is the one I seem to see results with, Just a suggestion and best of luck

    withchaco,

    I'm 5'8, 173 pounds, and 31 years old.

I haven't been measuring or weighing my food. I'll start measuring/weighing tomorrow. It's possible I underestimate enough to throw my calorie count off some...

My carb/sodium intake IS probably all over the place. I am consistent with the number of calories eaten, but have not been with what I'm actually eating. I make excuses for the quality of what I'm eating as long as it's under my daily calorie goal (ex. having a hamburger at lunch but without cheese or mayo because I'm out running around and then having low calorie ceral for dinner to stay within calorie budget). BUT...I thought that was the beauty of calorie counting, flexibility as long as you don't overdo?? Hmmm.

Take before pictures and measurements. Sometimes you wont see much change in the scale but you will be losing inches :) Keep at it, not losing weight is frustrating but you'll get there
