I did my first 5k in October and did well!! Broke my toe afterwards and that has since healed but when I started running again Im having severe hip pain by the end of a 3-4 mile run. I think Im overcompensating my right side by not putting all the stress on my left foot(where toe was broke). Any suggestions?

Try doing walk / jog intervals until it feels like you can run evenly/balanced again. And if not truly healed enough, will give a chance to recover.

So maybe walk 1 min and then jog 2 min, or whatever combo sees you through the same time span of workout, even if you don't hit the distance you were doing.

During the jog part, really concentrate on landing evenly and equal to the other side, if no real pain is still present anyway. Problem with constant running, you loose focus and body takes over. Also, no music so you can concentrate.

If pain is present, skip the jogging until you can heal. Try elliptical, or hill walking, whatever doesn't hurt.

The only advice I have is really trying to concentrate while you run to let that leg perform as normal. OR try distracting yourself enough that you aren't thinking about over compensating and just run.

I've had issues before where one small thing led to a compounding problem when over compensation occurs. Good luck.

To me, it could be a million and one things. I would probably focus on having the right shoes, stretching and taking it easy so I could focus on form.
