Ok here is the skinny. I am 50 pounds overweight. Never had a weight problem until 6 years ago- pregnancy never got the weight off....so I start having symptoms of hormone imbalance and go to a Hollistic Doctor- great creditials is also a OB/GYN anyway he put me on Progestrone Hormone. I don't know what is going on....before MFP: I ate badly, did not exercise, did not drink much water and did not eat well balanced meals....now I exercise a minimum of 3x per week, most of the time 4x per week, drink a lot of water, eat balanced low fat meals with minimal cheating...but i've only lost 2 pounds in 11/2 months!!!! This is frustrating... Back in the day , i would have already atleast dropped a pant size and minimum of 8 pds...what's up??? is it the hormones...I mean I'm weighing and wearing the same size yet i'm working my butt off!!! Help advice please!!!

I would have both a thyroid test and a diabetes check to be on the safe side. Also, sometimes you need to play with the hormones before you land the right combination.....I would ask for a hormone test just to see what is going on. The possibility may exist that you didn't need hormone replacement therapy just yet. Good luck! Please let me know how things go.0

Hi my weight is coming off slow also and I am doing cardio 6 days a week at least 45 minutes plus working out with a trainer 3 days a week. I also attribute the slow weight loss to hormones since I am in my early 50,s and hormones are allo ver the place. I can't take any type of replacement due to family history of breast cancer. My advise is don't give up increase the cardio if possibel and don't beat yourself up.:flowerforyou:0

I was on the depo shot, which has a high level of progesterone, my Gyn told me that it will make you feel hungry.....sorta like making you think you are pregnant. It does something cooky to your brain where the hunger center is. I had to get away from it, I gained the majority of my wieght while on it. Unfortunately it is not like steroids where once off you start losing.........it sticks.
Good luck and keep up the hard work.

Progesterone doesn't promote fat storage like estrogen does. If you're 30 or older, you've begun to lose muscle and bone mass, and that along with a decrease in BMR makes it harder to lose weight. It's really not realistic to compare yourself to the you of 6 years ago. 6 years ago, I was 16 and in the middle of puberty.0
