I downloaded the Runkeeper app a few weeks ago but have not used it because I don't have a case or armband strap to wear it. I'll get one eventually. For the meantime, would it work ok if you put it in your pocket? Any one who has this app have any recommendations?

I use the iphone app in my pocket every-time I workout.

Only issue is if my shorts are loose occasionally the phone will hit me in the boys when I am running.

    LOVE That app!!!

I just held it in my hand until I recently purchased pants that had a little pocket. The problem with putting the phone in a pocket is the interference with the GPS. I live in the boonies and a cloudy day can interfere with the strength of the GPS signal, and fabric makes it worse.

this is a function of the hardware not the app. Iphone 4 or 4s, and most newer android phones you should have zero problems in your pocket. I can even get an accurate location lock indoors on on the iphone 4s

But do you still get all the info from it (pace, distance, etc) if GPS is weak? Not sure what it all provides since I haven't used it. I guess if I happen to not have pockets that day then I will try just holding it.

I am not farmiliar with the Runkepper app but I usethe " Cardio Trainer App". It sounds like the same thing. (I'm assuming it tracks your location and logs your miles/calories) I run with my phone in my running pack or my pocket and it seems to work just fine : )

It willl go all out of wack if the GPS is weak. It will also slow you down because you start fussing with the durn thing - when it works well I like to see my current pace to motivate me.
