hi
I eat too much sugar. Everyday I am over on sugar. However, if I didn't eat the "junk" things that are high in sugar my calories would be WAY under... How is a girl supposed to balance her diet?? I know sugar is not good for you and know I should avoid it. I am looking for tips to avoid that sugar !!

There was a thread similar to this a few days ago and everyone in that thread goes over too. It's hard to stay under especially if you eat fruit. I don't worry about it.

Fruit is a good substitute for processed sugar treats. So are nuts unless you're allergic. Most nuts also help balance your blood sugar and provide a range of nutrients and healthy fats, too. And they're calorie dense, so if I'm a bit low on cals I'll grab a handful of walnuts or almonds. Problem solved.
  • I am always way over on sugar, too! I've decided not to worry too much as long as it's not just a bunch of processed foods providing that sugar. If it's fruit, I'm fine with it. And right now, for the holidays, I'm okay with the sugar in the homemade sweets that are hard for me to avoid... Cuz I know they won't be around in another week or two.

I am often over on this, too, but I eat fruit every day and have sugar in my coffee (2 tsp) every morning. Everywhere else I avoid added sugar, try to avoid processed foods and choose complex carbohydrates. As long as my total carbohydrates are where they should be (I shoot for about 45-50% of calories from them) I am not worried about it one little bit.
