Hi everyone. I have started doing this DVD: Jillian Michaels: Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism and I dont know how to log it? I started off only doing 10 mins, then 20 and today made it 30 mins. I can't do the stuff on the floor yet but one day...... Anyway how do I log this? As low or high impact aerobics?

Also, I find this one exciting. I would like more of hers so I don't get bored doing the same one each day. I am 381 lbs and 5'8 and have a semi-bad knee. I see a lot about this 30 day shred and saw it on Amazon but wonder if it is something I could do? Thank you in advance for your input. It is appreciated.

I wanted to add that it must be doing something to my body because I am still sweating 15 minutes after I am done. Whew.

I usually log it as high. low impact is more when you are self paced kind of thing with a heck of a lot less jumping!. I would suggest if you have the money get a heart rate monitor. (I don't have one, but it is on my birthday wish list) That will give you the most accurate calorie burn. I have horrible knees and I can do the 30 day shred. If my knee starts bugging me, I ease up on the intensity. Jillian's dvd's are awesome and I wish you luck!

I log it as JM: BFBM in my own separate catergory that you can create. You can customize your exercises if you enter a new one in the "database" and then use it over and over. You can then enter the time you worked out to that dvd and your cal. burned

I hope this helps. I found this on SPARKPEOPLE and keep it hand on my blog:

How to track Jillian Michaels DVDs in MFP
    **JILLIAN'S WORKOUT TYPES BY TITLE...

The Biggest Winner Series(all) = cardio @ high intensity
30 Day Shred = circuit training
No More Trouble Zones = circuit training
Banish Fat Boost Metabolism = cardio @ high intensity
TBL Power Sculpt = circuit training
TBL Last Chance Workout = circuit training
    Yoga Meltdown = circuit training
Shred-It = circuit training (use a kettlebell or dumbbell)
6 Week 6 Pack = strength (so you can track each exercise in the workout)
Ripped in 30 = circuit training

By the way....BFBM is one of my FAVORITES!
  • The best way of tracking it would be with a heart rate monitor because otherwise you won't have the "true" calories that you burned! Plus knowing the EXACT calories YOU burned will give you much more drive and determination to continue..It works for me!!!
    Good luck and Happy Holidays

I just started this one today. Agree - it is WAY more fun than 30DS.

I logged it as circuit training. It seemed to give me the same level of work as other workouts I've done that have "known" calorie amounts, and the calories were similar.

Wow, thanks guys!! I want to order more of her DVDs! I am going to log it and see what it says. I am not familiar with a heart rate monitor but I want to look into one!

Hells bells I would say HIGH! I was dying on some of those circuits....sweat in my eyes and everything. :op I never thought about breaking it up into sections like that. What a great idea! I just limped along through most of it and kissed the floor when I was done. ;) Hehe.

I put it in as High and it said I burned 605 calories. So now do I have to eat all that? Cause I'm not hungry.

how many calories does this one burn approximately? is it more weights or more cardio? I'm trying to decide which one I'm going to do next after the shred. I have 5 more days of it left.
