I am 38 yrs old. I quit smoking 4 years ago (Nov 27, 2007 to be exact) and since then have put on a significant amount of weight. As a smoker I was small (often I even heard I was TOO SKINNY). Well, I dont hear that anymore. I have lost 20 lbs over the last few months but have at least 40 to go. Started a food journal today, plus this website. I am ready to hear I am too skinny again and be able to wear the 3 drawers full of jeans that I have not worn in 3 years and miss terribly.

Welcome, saw in your profile that you are planning on becoming a teacher! I've left that profession and am now going for my doctorate in Curriculum & Instruction hoping to find a life in academia. MFP is working really great for me and the people are wonderful, I've gotten so much support, Read the forums and blogs to find like minded people to friend, that's the best way to go.

Congrats on giving up the smoking. I am about to embark on quitting chewing tobacco, a habit I have had for 20+ years. Find some like-minded people that you share interests with and search the forums for answers. Many of a newbies questions have already been asked and answered. If you're looking for supportive friends, add me if you want.
