Help my feet, please :)

I have started walking about 60 minutes (broken up) a day. The first week was torture on my feet (understandably so), then it got better. BUT, I could definitely walk more or longer from an endurance standpoint, but my feet just can't take it. I was fitted for my shoes at a specialty shoe place (not one of those things sponsored by a brand) and they are supposed to be the best for my stride and pronation. So it shouldn't be the shoes. I know my feet will feel better as the pounds keep coming off, but any other ideas for helping my feet to take the beating?

Have you seen a podiatrist to rule out a foot deformity or injury? Get seen by a doc. If you're given a clean bill of health, just keep at it, your body will adjust! If you belong to a gym, you can ask one of the staff members there to show you how to use other cardio machines that primary require upper body movement until you get your weight down a little bit.0

I'd second the recommendation to see a doctor if you haven't. A good friend of mine just found out that it's a foot deformity that has been causing her pain for years. (She's 49 now.) You'd never know by looking. Her second metatarsal bone is too long and causing too much pressure to be put on the wrong places on her feet. It turns out she needs to wear orthopedic inserts to help distribute her weight better. So, it could be something relatively simple but not obvious.
Other than that my recommendations would be to be sure and stretch your legs and feet after exercising and maybe do some self-massage to help ease the pressure and discomfort.
