The whole week leading up to Thanksgiving the forum was flooded with posts from people panicking about the upcoming feast and festivities. I've haven't seen anyone panicking about Christmas?!?! To me - although I love Christmas, I definitely tend to fall off the fitness wagon way more during this week and the next then I do at Thanksgiving. Isn't anyone out there being tempted by the steady stream of goodies?!?! I'm trying to stay strong, everything in moderation, work out....but damn it's hard!!! I'll be happy when the New Year rolls around and I'll be back to kicking butt and eating healthy!!!!!!

    that's funny.

if you think aboaut it, the overeating cycle goes from haloween and lasts until super bowl. then, of course, come summer bbqs.
  • I have decided that I'm saying no to stuff I'm not fussed on - i.e.: christmas pudding, ice cream, sausage rolls, etc. And will be saving myself for the things I love i.e: purple quality street, stuffing, custard (I bought gingerbread custard tuther day...mmmmm)....

I'm not freaking out because food is becoming less important..I used to plan around food, now I plan around life.

I don't celebrate thanksgiving (from UK).

I'm with you! Thanksgiving is just one day and some leftovers, but Christmas means plate after plate of goodies baked from the neighbors and party after party with sweet boozy drinks and appetizers all over the place. I'm just trying to exercise more and cross my fingers...yikes!

Oh, I was trying, and then TOM came and I said screw it. I have a good plan for the beginning of the year. I'm looking at the next week as the end of the old me...enjoying the last of the crappy foods.

I understand what you mean. I have been eating Christmas junk for 2 weeks now. I can't not wait for it all to be over. If I were home like I have been for the last 2 years, it wouldn't be so hard. But this year I am in an office filled with cookies, cakes, popcorn, u name it :(

I haven't been trying to deprive myself though, just hitting the workouts extra hard.

Having been an employee at grocery stores for almost 8 year (in my former life) I can tell you that overeating is MUCH more prevalant during Thanksgiving than Christmas. The stores I worked at always geared up for their biggest week of the year right before Turkey Day. Christmas was never as crowded and even across the weeks preceeding it, we never raked in the sales like we did at Thanksgiving. Either Thanksgiving is really the eater's holiday or we've just gotten used to overindulgence or imposing self control in the weeks prior to Christmas, and it doesn't matter as much.
